Lady Lovelace

I really do feel like I’ve been growing up a lot more this year. Contrary to my Doc’s phase (which I do not regret), my wardrobe has slowly been filled up with more feminine pieces whether they be heels or dresses or even flouncy tops I promised as a kid that I would never be caught dead in. (I was a tomboy)

As I’ve gotten older and my lifestyle has changed, I’m really starting to appreciate staple and classic articles of clothing that are good to wear on any occasion and if there is anything piece of clothing (aside from a crisp white polo shirt) that is on my to-go list, it would definitely have to be lace.

There’s just something about it that is so pristine and regal especially if you know how to choose the right kind. And you never have to worry about “losing yourself” with all the femininity because there’s always a way to play it up or down depending on your style.

Need a little boyish “umf”, just throw on that leather jacket of yours and you’re good to go!

Plan to go all out girly? Deck yourself in pearl earrings some sky high heels and you’re set!

For my look, I wanted to be a mix of both by wearing my favorite heels and the leather bib necklace that Justinne got me for my birthday. Leather, lace and heels… sounds just about right!

Yeah… I’m not so grown up, after all.

Trenched

[Red Beanie: H&M| Trench Coat: Surplus Shop| Flats: SM Department Store]

[Striped long sleeves: Thrifted| Canvas shorts: Forever21| Belt: YRYS]

[Ring: Unisilver Jewelry| Necklace: Vintage| Watch: Fossil]

I was *this* close to not posting these pictures. I wore this outfit on the day of the super typhoon Yolanda since we were bored while waiting for the electricity to come back on and I went out to have dinner with Paolo. I didn’t want to be insensitive about the whole topic but… how else am I supposed to explain why I wore this trench coat without making Yolanda my excuse? #committedblogger

This is the last you’ll probably see of my trench coat… unless I finally get a passport and take myself somewhere far away, cold and weather appropriate.

Ang init dito, mehn!

Bang On

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS to all of us for slowly making #bangonph a reality, for being great Filipinos (despite the political warfare) and for mostly putting others before ourselves. We truly are a great group of people!

Second, HATS OFF (not gloves) to boxing legend MANNY PACQUIAO for an awesome display of skill, determination and not to mention, perspiration! You did more than just win fights, you give this country something to look forward to and be proud of. #ikawna . haha

How do you like my new look? Is it ban(g)kable?

Ok, I can seriously think of a hundred and one puns to my new look. I love it!

In my desperate need for a change, I decided to get my bangs on instead of getting a pixie cut. I’m glad I made that decision because bangs are a lot to work with already but a short bob takes a lot of maintenance especially when you try to grow it out.

Paolo says I look more like a “fashion blogger” now… whatever that means.

My advise when opting for full bangs is to talk with your stylist first. I did not know this, but apparently, there are different types of “full” bangs (who would’ve known!). My stylist decided to give me a slightly messy, chopped cut that’s long enough to sweep to the side in case I don’t want it hanging in my face. So far, so good. Very little maintenance except when I need to pat in down in place.

Glasses: SM Department Store| Peplum top: Forever21| Pants: Tiangge Find (top and pants from Lorraine. Thank you!)| Wedges: 168| Versace inspired necklace: issa4sale| Watch: iWatchz

I think this look totally gave my new look some justice. It was the exact amount of spunk and spice that I wanted without going full on goth or bad ass. Plus, it was event appropriate since I wore this outfit to a press conference which I organized.

Yes, for whoever wants to hire me for events, I’M YOUR GIRL! 😉

My only fashion advice for this look is to be extra careful when wearing peplum tops with pants. The hinge of the Peplum is meant to be at the waist and if the hem of your top is too short, you can have a massive case of camel toe. No one wants to see that.

Ultimately, I would prefer wearing tops like this with shorts or a skirt but whatever, I’m not the boss (yet).

So there’s that piece of advice and also, when wearing maroon colored anything, opt for darker colors (except white). That’s pretty much it.

Gotta skidaddle, must get ready for family picture day!

Ta ta,

Issa

Look At Me, I’m 23

Dress: Blind Clothing

So this is how I decided to turn 23 this year… in a tiny red dress at the corner of my tiny room feeling like I had the worst luck in the world. I was wrong. Thank God.

Let’s be honest, I’ve never been the happiest person in the world,  I’m always busy being mad at something or bitching about anything. But to be sad on your birthday is something I would never wish upon anybody.

It really just felt like the day would never end and although I didn’t have a good reason to be sad (aside from the fact that I had no internet AT ALL), I was anyways.

But I guess life is weird like that. I guess I was lonely because it was my first real birthday without my family (last year I was in Bantayan) or maybe I’m bipolar and doomed for all of eternity. But whatever I was going through just got a whole lot better over dinner with my family and Paolo.

Me, the family girl, who would’ve known.

My life has changed soo much. I’m definitely not the 22 year old who didn’t know what she wanted.

I’m the 23 year old who knows what she wants and just wants to get it.

I hope you do too.

Black, White and I’m Over Using This Bag Again

Faux Leather cap: Gaisano Tabunok

White polo shirt: Loalde

Aztec printed shorts: Trendable PH

Flats: Follie

Bag: HK Find

You can tell it’s one of those no make up days when I’ve got my trusty cap on. Luckily for me, I can still be in “style” while hiding my hideous face with my faux leather cap that I scored from Gaisano Tabunok for just P 109.00!

Don’t you just love a great deal? I swear, it was worth the long travel!

Also, I recently found out that Follie shoes (commonly seen in Ayala Department Stores) are actually made in Car Car! And although it doesn’t make much of a difference since they sell for the same price, knowing stuff like this is pretty cool.

Brand bashing aside, I hope your day goes as well as a white button down shirt.

I say this because you can never really go wrong with a crisp white button down, right?

Unless of course you’re this guy…

Just kidding. This is a classic!

It’s Gonna Be A Bright Sun-Shiny Day

http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.jshttp://lookbook.nu/look/widget/5357228.js?include=hype&size=medium&style=button&align=center

I always told myself that I wouldn’t be one for trends (as I’ve said OVER and OVER again) but lately I’m finding myself to be the complete opposite of that.
Look at me, I’ve been in origami skirts, cropped tops and now a pink  cut out dress!
But who am I trying to kid? I’m a complete sell out and there’s nothing wrong with that. What’s wrong was me trying to live my life thinking I could have my own style that was completely different from what was “trending”. Maybe some other time but now if definitely not that time.
This years’ fashion has been to-die-for.

And maybe I am a tad bit too late for this floral headdress, cut out and pastel ensemble but who cares, I love it anyways. (BABY STEPS IS WHAT I’M CALLING IT)

In style, trending, being relevant aside, this piece to me, is timeless, classic and something I will never regret keeping in my closet. It’s perfect for mid afternoon dates at romantic dessert places, semi formal occasions and even for those lazy days when you feel like you need to be all glammed up!

Floral headpiece: iCrown| Forever21 cut out dress: Style2GoCebu

Accessories: Vintage (from my “Grumpsy’s” collection/ Aizilym Ent.| Bag: Hong Kong find

Heels: 168 find (Thanks again, Tita Balot!)

In case anyone’s wondering, I wore this look to the opening of Fuzion Gourmet. Check out the post this week!

Good Girl? Bad Girl?

There comes a time when you just can’t figure out what to wear. For me, this happens almost every day.

So what do you do when you can’t decide? Simple. You switch in between! (Or at least that’s what I did!)

http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.jshttp://lookbook.nu/look/widget/5349442.js?include=hype&size=medium&style=button&align=center

It was really a challenge of deciding if I wanted to sweat my feet in my combat boots or kill my feet in heels but I was determined to pull off both looks so I decided to wear the combat boots during the day and my new wedges at night. TADA!

BAD GIRL?

White V-neck shirt: Blue Camp| Origami shorts: Alla Moda Thrift Store| Leather Cap: :)| Watch: iWatchz| Combat boots: SM Department store

Good Girl?

Retro Sunnies (in white): Forever21| Nude wedges: Greenhills| Silver necklace: Vintage

So.. Am I a bad girl or good girl?

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Work Does Not Start On Monday

I know everyone’s probably sick and tired of me wearing this blazer over and over again but I really do love it!

A million thanks again to Laundry Clothing!

[Silk top: Thrifted| Shorts: Thrifted| Shoes: Given| Feather earing: Aizilym]

Had a quick shoot in my room a couple of weeks ago when I didn’t feel like going outside to have my outfit shots taken. I’m glad I made that random decision because these are my favorite photos to date 🙂

Oh, I’m semi unemployed again! Who wants to hire me?
