Beating Time with G- Shock & Shockwear

I’ve recently been given the opportunity to be one of the ambassadors of G-Shock’s official distributors, Shockwear located at The Outlets at Pueblo Verde and as you’ve already seen in a previous post of mine, this post was done about a month ago and will be used as marketing collateral for the brand.

G-Shock has been around for a while already and are popularly known for being the ultimate tough watch. Way back when, it was designed with the intent to create a watch that would never break without compromising an attractive design. Fast forward to today, the G-Shock watches are known for just that, durability and also a unique structure- definitely what people want in their watches!

Since G-Shock’s are well sought after, it is no surprise that imitation brands are everywhere! Sure, they’re a lot cheaper as compared to the original versions but fake watches will never make you appreciate the brand for what it really is. That’s why it’s important to make sure that you’re purchases are genuine  and are bought from official distributors like Shockwear.

[VLOG] Behind The Scenes with G Shock & Shockwear Watches @ The Outlets at Pueblo Verde

https://youtu.be/DAksqGQIDKM

G Shock and Baby G watches have been in my blood ever since I was a little girl. I fondly remember their 90’s designs and using the detachable rubber stoppers as “braces” because 1. I thought it was cool and because 2. I was a pretty gross kid. HAHA. (please tell me I wasn’t the only one who did this, please!)

So when I was asked to be the ambassador for G- Shock from their official distributors, Shockwear, you could only imagine my utmost delight.

Here is a short BTS vlog from the wonderful day I spent checking out and shooting with the brand. Stay tuned (subscribe, bookmark, follow) for the final photos which I will be releasing on the blog soon.

A special thanks to the Pixie Dust Creations team for always taking care of me and for always keeping me in mind.

Check out Shockwear at the Outlets at Pueblo Verde for authentic and affordable G Shock apparel.

What time is it?

Sometimes A Tita

DSCF9620

Lately a lot of the people I know have been referring to themselves as tita’s and as in denial as I am, I too, believe that I am at a certain stage of tita-hood. *shiver*

It may not be apparent in my choice of hair color or the words that I use but in little aspects of my life, there is definitely a little bit of titaness in me. I make sure I always have alcohol/ sanitizer in my bag, I care a lot more about how I carry myself and I take care of my health more than I ever did. Does that make me a tita or just an adult? Meh.

Tita or no tita, I am still in love with this look that I put together for an afternoon with my siblings. It’s chic, sophisticated and most of all, it’s comfortable. With this heat wave, I can no longer bring myself to compromise comfort over style otherwise I would die.

[Vlog] Things To Do In The South of Cebu

Most tourists come to Cebu thinking that the only thing to do here is to see the whale sharks. Our friend who was visiting from France was willing to endure an almost 8ish hour road trip just to swim with these gentle giants not knowing that there was soo much more to do in the south of Cebu!

First of all, I know a lot of people are against swimming with the whale sharks and I understand all the reasons as to why, but when you have an eager friend whose dreamed of swimming with them for a very long time, you simply cannot deny them of that opportunity. So if you are already offended as early as now, I do encourage you to leave this post but feel free to read my other adventure articles here, here and here.

So here is a quick run through of what you can do while travelling to the South:

3:00 am – 7: 00 am Leave for the city

7:30 am – 8:00 am (OSLOB) Swim with the whale sharks

10:00 am – 3:00 pm (MOAL BOAL) Go canyoneering but if you’re pressed for time, you can also try out Aguinid falls (SAMBOAN) and/ or 3 other falls located in that area

5:00 pm – Head down to a resort in Moal Boal to set camp. Our resort of choice was Club Serena but I’m always hearing people tell me that Hale Manna is a pretty good place to stay at, as well.

DAY 2

7:00 am (or earlier) – 11: 00 am Go dolphin watching, turtle watching, catch the sardine run

12:00 nn Check out

I wish I had enough photos to share with you however, I did not have a GoPro on me at the time (I was simply hitching to a friends GoPro) and hopefully the vlog will suffice.. for now 🙂

When it comes to your day 2 itinerary, dive shops will charge you around P1,990.00++ for a group tour which isn’t as great as going on your own. Luckily, I was able to save the number of our boatman during our trip and he does allow private tours at a better price. Be sure not to haggle Kuya Michael (0923 462 3156) too much, though. Remember, we still want him to make a good profit.

Happy Summer,

[Vlog] My Hair Transformation from Black To Ash Grey

It’s been the fifth day since I had my hair bleached and dyed- basically the most drastic thing ever to be done to my hair. As I finger comb through my newly woken up bedhead, I still feel like nothing has really changed in terms of the texture and strength of my hair. Maybe one more bleaching session will kill it for sure but I have a month to let my head rest and let’s hope for the best.

I have noticed though that my hair is a little harder to comb now (because I have started combing) especially when I skip the conditioner. My strands become clumped up but once it’s dry then I don’t have a problem with it anymore. Maybe I’ll try air drying it today and we’ll see how that works!

Again, I want to say thank you again to Blanche of The Hair Goddess for hooking me up with this tight look. I am so in love with my hair and I highly suggest anyone who is considering to DIY their own hair to check out her blog for lots of tips and tricks. I know she has an entry that breaks down the bleaching and dying process one by one.

Enjoy,

Hotel Rooms & A Short Rant On “Beauty”

DSCF9229

Just came back from my trip to Moal Boal where we spent our lovely and much needed trip at Club Serena where we were able to watch the whale sharks, the sardine run and the turtles. Along with that trip I was able to come home with wonderful memories and jelly fish stings all over my body! It was totally worth it and although I am itching uncontrollably, I am more grateful than I am angry. Maybe next time I’ll  wear a rash guard or a wet suit but that’s for another adventure *two weeks cannot come any sooner*!

Vacations are always a great time for me to insert scenic/ dramatic photo shoots because of the great scenery and new backdrops and even if I have to run back and forth to set my self timer. Yes, I take my own photos with the aid of my handy dandy tripod. So if you have one, use it and if you’re planning to get one make sure to invest in a sturdy tripod because cameras are expensive and there’s no point in scrimping out on your accessories.

A thought that came into my head as I was writing this is the issue of skin color and the fact that I am currently 2 shades darker than I normally am.

We live in a society where people adore people with fairer skin and think that being white or fairer is the equivalent to beauty. They try so hard to get that look and invest so much on whitening products and stay as far away as possible from the sun. If that’s what you’re into then fine, I’m not going to judge you but at least have the decency to respect those who are not afraid to get a real tan.

I’ve always been a morena, even if most of my relatives are fair skinned. My mom is white, my dad is white, my siblings are white and I am not. My grand father, who I looked up to greatly growing up and my aunt who won Miss Cebu Tourism in 1990 have the same skin color as I am and growing up, I looked to them for confidence when everyone was telling me that I was getting too dark and that I shouldn’t stay under the sun to play tennis, swim and all the activities I involved myself in growing up. They were proud of their color, they never let society define them and they succeeded and are continuing to succeed because color is not proportionate to what you are and what you can achieve.

I’m not saying to disregard sun block and soak up in the sun because these products prevent cancer, burn and premature wrinkling among other things- I use them when I can and I will continue to use them because I believe in taking care of my body. What I am saying is to not look down on anyone who does not fit your personal beliefs of beauty because we are all beautiful in our own ways.

I’ve been called numerous things for being a morena like a farmer, a negra, poor, ugly and I’ve had people choose fairer people over me because to them I was not worthy of their attention/ affection and worse respect. Yes, it hurt but I never wanted to change who I was because of these small minded opinions and neither should YOU.

Love yourself first before you allow anyone else to love you and if you’re a morena living among people who think you need some gluta, papaya soap or to lock yourself in your room then you don’t need them because you’re fabulous the way you are! ❤

Coffee Sessions @ 32 Umber

DSCF8805

I am no coffee expert but I do enjoy a nice strong cup of Joe especially when the day calls for one. That day being everyday.

32 Umber had been on my go to list ever since it opened some time by the end of February. I fell in love with their Instagram posts of coffee (with great reviews!), pastries and beautiful interiors which we all know I am a sucker for so naturally, I had to check it out for myself.

//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

DSCF8811

32 Umber is a bit small and is probably good for about 20 people at a time but with its glass enclosures, it definitely does not feel cramped. Regardless of size, their furniture is cozy and the whole place is homey, inviting and will make you want to camp there for hours at a time whether you wish to study, work or just catch up with old friends.

32 Umber sets themselves aside from other local coffee shops in the metro with their hand- brewed coffee which is also known as pourover coffee. This method of brewing involves fresh grounded coffee beans, a filter and a filter holder. At its most basic level, the brewing level involves pouring water over and through the grounds of coffee to extract the flavors into your cups for drinking. At 32 Umber, you get to choose between 2 brewing methods which are V60 or an Aeropress. I have yet to taste it but I do look forward to coming back very soon and trying it out for myself!

Seaside Sessions with Jiri Dinsay

IMG_0268

The more I surround myself with different photographers, the more I am able to appreciate the art and the process of taking beautiful photos. Sometimes it is done under intense heat, smells with kanya- kanyang diskarte which all pays off when we are able to see the output of our hard work.

I shot with Jiri Dinsay for this set who was as easy and breezy as the seaside winds that graced us that morning. Definitely someone I would love to be able to work with again and again and again!

I like to mix food and fashion, with food being an unknown and completely new passion of mine… until I gained 10 lbs. But believe me, I have been trying to work it off. (I am soo close!)

I especially love it when my look matches the interior of a restaurant making it completely relevant to take advantage of a beautiful establishments interiors like the one’s at District on 53rd.

Their long list of menu choices might overwhelm you at first but their chilled food section might be a good place to start especially if you’re a more visual person.

Plus, their selection of ice cream is heavenly so if you plan to skip dinner, at least consider dessert!

//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js2016_0228_02302100

Like District on 53rd’s interior, I decided to mix a few uncommon pieces of my own together for this look. Chiffon and lace definitely make a good combination but what about your decade old favorite pair of Chuck Taylors?

It probably wasn’t the daintiest thing to look at I’ll admit, but it felt good to be able to infuse clothes I’ve been struggling with and something I am familiar with. You can still create something beautiful out of opposites.
