[VLOG] Behind The Scenes with G Shock & Shockwear Watches @ The Outlets at Pueblo Verde

https://youtu.be/DAksqGQIDKM

G Shock and Baby G watches have been in my blood ever since I was a little girl. I fondly remember their 90’s designs and using the detachable rubber stoppers as “braces” because 1. I thought it was cool and because 2. I was a pretty gross kid. HAHA. (please tell me I wasn’t the only one who did this, please!)

So when I was asked to be the ambassador for G- Shock from their official distributors, Shockwear, you could only imagine my utmost delight.

Here is a short BTS vlog from the wonderful day I spent checking out and shooting with the brand. Stay tuned (subscribe, bookmark, follow) for the final photos which I will be releasing on the blog soon.

A special thanks to the Pixie Dust Creations team for always taking care of me and for always keeping me in mind.

Check out Shockwear at the Outlets at Pueblo Verde for authentic and affordable G Shock apparel.

What time is it?

Sometimes A Tita

DSCF9620

Lately a lot of the people I know have been referring to themselves as tita’s and as in denial as I am, I too, believe that I am at a certain stage of tita-hood. *shiver*

It may not be apparent in my choice of hair color or the words that I use but in little aspects of my life, there is definitely a little bit of titaness in me. I make sure I always have alcohol/ sanitizer in my bag, I care a lot more about how I carry myself and I take care of my health more than I ever did. Does that make me a tita or just an adult? Meh.

Tita or no tita, I am still in love with this look that I put together for an afternoon with my siblings. It’s chic, sophisticated and most of all, it’s comfortable. With this heat wave, I can no longer bring myself to compromise comfort over style otherwise I would die.

When In Carcar: 1878 Restaurant

DSCF9364

Took a trip down South over the Holy Week to visit my boyfriend and to explore the area with my family. We overheard that there was a new restaurant that had opened a couple of months ago and we were eager to try it out since we were already in the area and had ticked off most of the things we intended to do during our visit.

Paolo, who was our tour guide for the day, did not really know much about the newly opened restaurant so we put on our adventure boots and headed out to find 1878 Restaurant.

Considering the Car- car is a small place which means that word travels around fast, it was not long til we found ourselves standing in front of a green gate along San Jose St., Poblacion 1 (one of the back roads from the City Hall/ church)

DSCF9370

We were greeted by a quiet, peaceful and homey backyard- turned- restaurant that was surrounded by lots of plants and hanging lights. Surprised and delighted were the first emotions that overcame us because for a very long time, we had the impression that Cafe Terraza was one of the very few restaurants located in the area.

We eagerly found the closest seat to the counter and braced ourselves for our brand new gastronomical adventure.

DSCF9368

1878 Restaurant has a lot of food offerings that are both interesting and intriguing like their ever famous steamed rice which was the main reason that led us there. A lot of the food on their menu seemed to be Chinese influenced which we discovered was because the head chef spent many years working for Ding Qua Qua before moving back to his hometown where he now works.

We opted for the steam rice, quail egg siomai and lumpia shanghai.

DSCF9385

Steam rice – P 35.00

I wouldn’t say that it tastes exactly like our good ol’ Dimsum Break but you know what, it’s still pretty good. If I were to compare it to anything, I would say that it is closely similar to Braddex and for the price and location, it’s a very good deal.

DSCF9388

Quail egg siomai (7 pieces) – P 80.00

We really enjoyed this dish and the fact that it cost only P 80.00 for 7 pieces! It is very unlikely to find anything as affordable as this and flavor wise, we were not disappointed.

DSCF9386

Lumpia Shanghai – P 100.00

The last dish we had on our short trip was this lumpia shanghai. It was definitely flavorful and fried exactly to my liking. It wasn’t my favorite but I still enjoyed it anyways.

About a month after our first experience, Paolo has shared with me his frequent trips and discovery of their handful of dishes. I trust his judgement in food and so, I am confident to share with you his recommendations which are: the fried rice (P 80.00), chicken cordon bleu (P160.00) and calamares (P 200.00).

DSCF9392

1878 Restaurant is a good place to visit especially for my Car- caranion readers who are looking for a new place to spend their meals with friends and family.

Their servings are generous, the food is good and the ambiance is definitely a good break from the hectic city life.

Coffee Sessions @ 32 Umber

DSCF8805

I am no coffee expert but I do enjoy a nice strong cup of Joe especially when the day calls for one. That day being everyday.

32 Umber had been on my go to list ever since it opened some time by the end of February. I fell in love with their Instagram posts of coffee (with great reviews!), pastries and beautiful interiors which we all know I am a sucker for so naturally, I had to check it out for myself.

//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js

DSCF8811

32 Umber is a bit small and is probably good for about 20 people at a time but with its glass enclosures, it definitely does not feel cramped. Regardless of size, their furniture is cozy and the whole place is homey, inviting and will make you want to camp there for hours at a time whether you wish to study, work or just catch up with old friends.

32 Umber sets themselves aside from other local coffee shops in the metro with their hand- brewed coffee which is also known as pourover coffee. This method of brewing involves fresh grounded coffee beans, a filter and a filter holder. At its most basic level, the brewing level involves pouring water over and through the grounds of coffee to extract the flavors into your cups for drinking. At 32 Umber, you get to choose between 2 brewing methods which are V60 or an Aeropress. I have yet to taste it but I do look forward to coming back very soon and trying it out for myself!

Bikinis Out!

Collage

Based on the amount of sweat that has been coming out of my body the past few weeks, I think it is safe to say that it is finally summer!

And unlike last year, I will be on time with my summer and bikini photos since I will be able to celebrate it on Philippine time. So yey for all the beach trips I can’t wait to go on and all the bikinis I am so excited to wear!

For our first trip, a group of friends and I went boating while others went diving a little off the island of Mactan. I love diving and I definitely would have gone had it not been for this insanely huge purchase I recently made that has left me broke. Boo but it was totallyyy worth it. So instead, I decided to enjoy the sunshine while Paolo painstakingly took my photos. #instagramhusband.not

[VLOG] Trekking To Sirao Peak, Cebu

Will return to blogging in a bit but in the mean time, here’s a quick video of me and our family friends going trekking to Sirao.

If you didn’t know, it is open to the public again but PLEASE be mindful of your actions when you go. It’s a tourist attraction, yes, but Cebu is our home so it is our responsibility to take care of it!

See you soon. Must go back to playing SIMS!

A Tribute To Photographers feat. Nick Santos Photography

_DSC6946

Sharing my second set of photos, this time with photographer Nick Santos.

I made the decision late last year to open up my schedule more to different photographers who are interested in doing photo shoots with me. It was a risky decision for me to make but as much as I love having my photos taken by friends and my helper, I also had the desire to try different forms of art not only involving fashion. So far, I feel like I made the right choice as I’ve not only been able to expand my network, I have also been able to express a more creative side of me which I’ve been suppressing for so long. I’ve been able to try out different shoots and concepts and at the same time, learn about photography and pick through photographer’s brains to understand their works and what to them is art.

One thing I think it is important for me to mention is that, it is important to me that each person I work with feels entitled to their own work and not like they are working for me. I have worked with a few photographers who have the perception that bloggers are diva’s or elitists and will treat you like they own you and although I’ve never met a blogger that actually acts that way, I cannot say that they do not exist. However, as someone who appreciates not only the gestures of having your photos taken but more importantly the art, I will tell you that I understand that that’s not the way things go. When I work with other artists, I make sure they are comfortable and they are able to express themselves creatively and appropriately.  They have full control of their photos and may edit them as they want to and are free to post them on their portfolios- I also allow them to direct me and share ideas of how to make a photo come to life. Basically, I try to learn from them and hopefully, we learn from each other.

I consider myself as an artist with fashion and my body as my tools of choice. Photography backdrops and lately, film have both inspired me a lot and have also kept me extremely busy and although I don’t really know where these passions will take me in the future, I understand the hard work put into it which is why I respect it.

I have been so blessed to work with quite a handful of reputable photographers in my city- some who are still here and others who are spreading their work around the world and I cannot wait to work with more. I might not say this that often but if it weren’t for you guys, this blog would have never come to life!

So thank you, thank you, thank you to every single person who’s shot me and helped me grow in this industry.

If you’re starting a new hobby- have enough passion to fuel your soul and you will go places. Never allow anyone to take you for granted and never lose the drive to do something you love. You’ll go far!

Feel Like A Princess at Café Cómodo

Tired of being stuck in the Mandaue traffic with little choices of getting a quick coffee fix or a good meal while waiting for the roads to clear out? At Café Cómodo not only will they soothe your hunger pangs, you can also expect nothing less than a royal treatment. 2016_0216_04552100Located at the North Atrium building along Briones street in Mandaue, Café Cómodo offers a lot more than just a good meal and refreshing cold drinks. For P 300.00/ person, their resident photographer will take 10 photos of you while printing your best shot as a souvenir. You can even choose 1 out of their large selection of dresses, shoes and accessories imported from Korea to complete your look making it the perfect package for those who are hoping for a cheaper alternative to your pre- nuptial, debut or OOTD shots.

For those who want to rent their gowns for their special day, you may also do so at various prices ranging from P 2,000.00 above.

//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js2016_0216_03463800  //embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js2016_0216_03471500

//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js2016_0216_03461100

And when you’re done playing dress up, treat yourselves to their delicious meals and drinks that are not only delicious but well worth the price. To be completely honest with you, I was really impressed with their generosity in servings in consideration to their prices. Each meal is equally filling, their flavors are unique and new to the palate which makes it even more worthwhile. Among all the dishes that I was able to try, it was the Chicken Mayo and the Cream Cheese Halo- halo dishes that really stood out for me. It’s a perfect place for neighboring students to spend their study sessions at or professionals to hold quick meetings.  With the growing number of Korean based restaurants and cafes, I think that Café Cómodo stands out with their unique concept, designs and product offerings which in a way makes up for the traffic that you might have to endure on the way there. But parking spaces are widely and easily accessible in the area which makes up for it, in a way. Roadsides and Coffee Breaks with Griffith Salomon

Griffith #

Been sporting a lot of black lately in different kinds of fabric, textures and designs. I’m not going to lie, it makes me feel skinnier and it saves me a lot of time from having to decide what color goes well with which.

For this shoot, I got to play with my feminine and naturally sports side while enjoying a good ol cuppa Joe in between. Many will argue that you cannot be feminine in an all black ensemble but I disagree- you can be anything you want to be with the right mix of clothing and of course, the right attitude.
