Love, sweet, savory & magic! Not exactly how I would imagine using these 4 words in one sentence but it’s definitely charming, delightful, delicious and homey at Caffe Dara!

Love

This is what I love about Caffe Dara:

Caffe Dara
1610826_729523880475662_4536942948532716972_n  I love the cute graffiti/ wall art that is plastered all over the walls, the cozy environment and the fact that it’s a good place to go to if you feel like getting away from the common hang out places in the city.

SWEET

The warm coffee, other drinks to choose from and lots of dessert are definitely SWEEEEET! I love how they use geography in their drinks [lahugccino, among other names] and the cute containers/ drinks that they serve.

Ok, I’ll be honest… I mostly love how they serve beer at any time of the day! Scroll down for their STRAWBERRY BEER.

SAVORY

The different Korean food available on the menu! They have so many food that isn’t common is other Korean restaurants and I’ve seen their upcoming menu which is also equally awesome.

Caffe Dara practices an open kitchen policy which means that anyone can go in the kitchen and check the ingredients they use to see if they’re safe to use which I think is totally cool. I’ve tried almost everything on their menu [even the ones that haven’t been served yet] and it’s definitely something everyone who loves to eat should watch out for!

Caffe Dara has been one of my most recent hang out spots whenever I have time to just sit back, enjoy good food, wonderful company and even to just relax. I’ve also been getting most of my make up here since they also sell Korean products there for cheaper prices.

Just My Luck

So the first week I move out and there are reports about a killer typhoon that is set to hit the SOUTH of Cebu… Hello, Carcar.

But it’s still pretty much sunny outside so I’m going to make the most out of the little time I have by going to the bank and then the parlor. So much stuff to do, I haven’t even gone out and bought curtains for my room yet!

Ok, I really shouldn’t be blogging right now.

But in case I die… I love my family and someone should get a pug in my memory.

Bye!

Today Was An Emotional Day

Today I moved out of my mom’s house and into my new apartment all the way down in big, bad Carcar.

I’m currently 1 hour and 30 minutes away from the city by car or bus and I have no friends here other than Paolo’s staff and my landlord.

I’m staying in a quaint little room that I intend to KEEP bohemian themed and chic as ever.

It’s been a wild journey and I can’t believe that things are finally happening. It’s been some ride.

I guess that every time you gain something, you will always, without fail, have to give something else up.

I’m happy and I’m sad and I’m nervous but most of all, I need to learn how to wash my own underwear.

On Birthdays, We Wear Orange

10712957_727605244000859_8420849577709569407_n

10547425_727605300667520_6265143215378219573_n

According to Chinese tradition, on the day of one’s birthday, the celebrant is most commonly seen sporting anything red.

1. I completely abandoned any and all of my Chinese heritage the day I changed my last name to Perez. (I can only count to 5)

2. I wasn’t feeling very festive on that day, either.

Although I wasn’t very hyped about wearing red on my birthday, I still wanted to wear something that would make me stand out while I went to an event and hung out with my friends after. So instead I stuck to a bright orange Mango top and pieces of black and gold to tone down my entire look.

10675651_727605224000861_568348732250374669_n

I also decided to wear this floral cap from Filthy Project because I wanted to wear something youthful that brought out my personality. Lately, that for me has been anything with a Boho vibe or caps. Definitely caps.

I sort of felt that because I was turning 21, that I had to start wearing more formal pieces but let’s be honest… I’m not that  girl. I find comfort in boyish pieces and flats that can take me miles, shorts and caps that speak for themselves. Maybe I’m not quite ready to give that up yet but who knows…  years ago you would never see me in a sleeveless and now look!

I Found Myself

10421181_727609447333772_5982534714657129766_n

I used to struggle a lot with my identity. I grew up in an environment wherein everyone was the same but I wanted so much to be different.

Fashionwise, I was never the girly-girl and I hated anything and everything that lacked sleeves and had ruffles/ flowers on it. As much as I loved fashion and dreamed about being a fashion designer or working in the world of fashion, no one could ever imagine me in that world because I was never into trends.

I struggled a lot with that growing up and a lot of times I ended up wearing what my mom would buy me or what was “in” even if I hated them because I sort of gave up. I remember being so frustrated because I wanted to be my own kind of “fashionable” which meant wearing dresses and rubber shoes or a big top over shorts.

10407015_727609507333766_4019180011163572973_n

Up until recent times, if you asked me who I was, I really wouldn’t be able to give you an honest answer. I’m good with words so I’d be able to give an answer but to say that it was an answer I truly believed in would be a lie.

When I was in college, I was pressured to wear a lot of short dresses when I wanted to go out in long skirts because that’s what everyone else was wearing. For some stupid reason, I wanted to belong and I was scared of sticking out.

Sometimes I look back and I wish I was stronger and that I could tell my old self that it’s OK to be different, it’s OK to be laughed at and most of all, it’s OK to be yourself.

1920611_727610130667037_31865512436667776_n

As time passed, I slowly began to gain a better grasp of myself and realize who I was and how irrelevant the opinions of other people were.

To be honest, I often do feel a lot of pressure when it comes to blogging (as small time as I am) and I used to really beat myself up about it.

A lot of times I would question my own style because I didn’t like what was trending or I couldn’t afford really expensive clothes. Then, I would feel bad because I couldn’t afford to shop at all the fancy places that everyone else shopped at and I didn’t have the will power to try so hard to either.

Many times I wanted to talk about things I felt my blog wasn’t ready for so I just didn’t. I am so conscious of the things I post because I don’t want to disappoint anyone and sometimes it makes me feel robotic.

1465104_727610184000365_3981033349755039316_n

Then it occurred to me how petty these problems were and how stupid I was for even worrying about it in the first place. I came to the realization that if these were the problems that clouded my head, then I would never go far in life.

I really have a bad habit of over analyzing things and I guess it consumed me to a point where I became depressed and borderline pathetic. Everyone thinks that blogging is so glamorous and that the other side of the screen is so pretty but the reality is is, it’s 10:00 pm and I’m in my pambalay and my life is anything but glamorous.

I’m sharing these things and my thoughts because if you’re like me and you’ve spent most of your life feeling lost then maybe you should know that you’re not alone.

1016497_727609714000412_9118294782415563507_n

I’m not going to lie- I’m not fully at a place where I can truly say that I am at peace but if you asked me who I am now, I’d be able to give you an answer and as weird as that answer may be, it’s one that I believe is the truth.

It’s a good feeling to be 24 and admit these things because I feel like I’m taking a big load of my shoulders.

This year, I want to travel and I’m going to bust my butt working so I can do that with my own money. I want to soak up so much in the world that I no longer have to remember what it’s like to worry about if I got my angles right or stress out if my background is “instagramable” enough. Well, of course I’ll worry about it sometimes but at least not all the time. heee.

10441134_727609954000388_7237808018911868552_n

I’m not going to stop blogging- ever. I love fashion and it has always been an integral part of my life. Although it is a vain industry, maybe I can compensate for these things in ways that feel comfortable for me and hopefully I’ll become better at my craft.

I’m a very emotional human being. I don’t really know if I’m making a whole lot of sense but it feels really good to have said them. Thanks for sticking it through with me.

xx,

Issa

I Know I’m Like The Biggest Hypocrite Right Now But…

Thank you God, Thank you God, Thank you God!!!

Whether I believe you exist or not, you have never forsaken me. You keep giving and giving even when I have nothing to give you- even when I did not want to give you anything.

Thank you for being that light out of the darkness.

I was in a really bad place and now I’m better and for some reason, skeptical bitch and all, I have this strong sensation in my gut that it’s all you.

Thank you.

Fashion trends come and go but there are always a few staple, classic and timeless pieces that wouldn’t be so bad to splurge on- these are called investment pieces. Although the shopping scene at Parkmall is mostly known for its tiangge style, serious shoppers can now breathe a sigh of relief because now, there’s a place where you can now find pieces that will last you a lifetime!

I took a little trip there a couple of weeks ago and I was enthralled (oooh, big word Issa!) to find branded items such a BCBG, Little Monsters, Ralph Lauren and many more. Everything from their bags, shoes to garment pieces were uniquely hand picked by the owner, Maritoni Pereyra, herself from her recent travels to the States and certain parts of Asia.

Here are a few of my favorite items:

Girl Stuff, Forever

Lately I’ve been consumed by the craft bug. Although I’ve always been into sketching, painting and the like, a whole new world of arts and crafts have taken complete control of my life and it is so much fun!

I’ve recently opened an online store, Looms By Issa where I can give all my loom babies a better home and lately I’ve been fairly addicted to doing nail art.

Here are a few of my most recent work:

10001444_725663667528350_891152449566232353_n

10387696_725663824195001_8316386127513636809_n

I know I’m not the best at it but it’s really a learning process so I’ve used the past few week to learn and practice on myself and on my friends. It’s been really fun!

My personal favorite place to get all my manicure and manicure needs has been Girlstuff which is located at the Second Floor of Ayala Center, Cebu.

It’s a cute little stall which is filled with lots of beautifully colored manicure, brushes, tools and decals!

Girlstuff Nail Polish Bar is an affordable 5-free polish. 5 free meaning, free from 5 harmful chemicals that are usually found in nail polish such as: Toluene, Formaldehyde, DibutylPhtalate, Camphor and Formaldehdye-resins.

Aside from it being safer for our gorgeous fingers and toes, they are also safe for the little ones, as well.

Girlstuff nail polish is imported from France and comes in a wide collection of colors and styles such as: The Sophisticate Collection (gel type polish), Textured polishes, glitter, cream jelly and more!

10445524_725664304194953_7988701716452404138_n

They also have a lot of nail art instruments such as decals, stripping tape, stamps and more!

As a girl who loves having polish on her fingers, I am very impressed with the quality of this manicure for the price that it comes in.

From P100.00- P140.00, Girlstuff nail polish dries easily, doesn’t not have a very strong smell and the packaging it so cute! I have 9 nail polishes as of the moment and they all fit perfectly beside each other and don’t take up a lot of space either.
