Cebu Fashion Bloggers 8th Anniversary Dinner Photo Diary

I started blogging about fashion about 5-6 years ago- it was an unsure time when people didn’t even know what blogging was and having a group wasn’t especially a part of the norm. I fondly remember the day when I was scrolling Google search engines typing Cebu fashion bloggers/ Fashion bloggers in Cebu/ blogging groups about fashion in Cebu and the like when I miraculously chanced upon a group of fashion bloggers located in the city. It’s no surprise that it was among this group that I actually found my place even after being affiliated with other blogging groups. Being a part of the Cebu Fashion Bloggers turned my life and blogging career around for nothing but the best and a couple of days ago, we gathered together to celebrate such a wonderful union!

I can’t remember when I exactly became a part of the family but I remember the feeling- it was nothing short of amazing! It was back when studs, mesh and Jeffrey Campbell heels were in season and the words minimalist and fashion would never be caught dead in the same sentence. I was suddenly submerged around like-minded people who had fashion as a common denominator and compassion, passion and camaraderie as extraordinary add on’s. It was a simpler time back then and though the times and styles have changed, many years later- the love is still the same.

In this group, I’d be a hypocrite if I said I haven’t made my set of mistakes- I’ve lost my identity, I’ve sided with the wrong team, I had my misconceptions and as unguarded and unfiltered as I am, I’ve definitely pissed off a lot of people. That’s just who I am and luckily, I never found myself alone and afraid. My Cebu Fashion Bloggers family has always had my back and has guided me throughout the ups and downs of my career. They’ve helped me find myself, explore my options and helped me break down my walls that I so strongly build and for that, I am and forever will be grateful.

Many of you will notice that our family is small but we are one- we love each other, look out for one another and we try our best to help each other grow. There is no competition among us in fact, we are the first to help each other achieve a look, a vlog, an entry or project that one cannot simply achieve alone. We support each other, give each other insight and we like to spend endless of hours laughing and making joke on FB messenger! HAHA. Yes, we are small and that’s not to say that it’s the best group out there but it is definitely the best one for me.

On our 8th year in the industry, after having conquered our own set of accomplishments, failures, nuisances and what have you- we emerge better than ever. We’ve got so much to look forward to and we cannot wait to show you guys what we’ve got!

Thank you to everyone who’s supported us throughout the years. There are not enough words to express our unfathomable gratitude.

More power to all ❤

Philippines’ First Archery Tag/ Laser Maze & Largest Laser Tag Arena Is Now In Cebu!! The Barracks @ J Center + Giveaway! (CLOSED)

The Philippines’ first archery tag arena can be found smack dab in the middle of the best place on earth, Cebu, all thanks to The Barracks. If archery isn’t your thing, they’ve also got the largest laser tag area in the city, a lazer maze & hover ball so you can enjoy to your hearts content.

ARCHERY TAG

The Barracks’ archery tag consists of a large field filled with bunkers/ hide out spots and targets plus, authentic and patented equipment to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment all throughout the game.

There are a few rules whilst in game such as proper decorum, how to score points and of course how to load, aim and release your bow and arrow.

I was able to hit someone a couple of times while getting hit only once. A piece of advice, form co-ed groups because getting hit on the shoulder by a guy WILL BRUISE YOU! Also, let your inner Everdeen flag fly high at all times. #icouldnthelpit

LASER TAG

With The Barracks’ laser tag arena being the largest (and by large, I mean LARGE!) in Cebu, a large group of friends can enjoy shooting and dodging each other with the finest, safest and most technologically advanced equipment available in the market.

The arena (which was too dark to document) is designed with rows and columns of hiding spots that competitors can use as shields and hiding spots while in play.

Shooting is fairly easy and identifying your opponents is just as simple to do- so simple that I scored 2nd highest among the winning team. Yes, that was a humble brag.

LASER MAZE

Tap your inner ninja through the laser maze as you try to work around and dodge “laser beams”. There are 4 difficulty levels- easy, moderate, hard and expert and a maze challenge that is time based.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to try out the laser maze during my visit which is fine because now I have more reason to come back!

RATES & PACKAGES

GIVEAWAY

I’ll be giving away 5 P300.00 GC’s to one lucky person so you and your friends- all you need to do is:
(1) Like The Barracks on Facebook/ Instagram
(2) Follw me on Facebook/ Instagram
(3) Tag 4 friends in the comments section of this or this photo.

I will be announcing the winners by Saturday, June 24, 2017.

See you there!!

Bloggers/ Vloggers/ Influencers & The New Age Of Advertising- Content Creation 101 For Bloggers & Businesses

If you’ve noticed, I’ve taken a short break from blogging (the writing aspect, at least) not because there wasn’t anything to write about but rather, I couldn’t find the words to say. I pulled a mini Michelle Phan and reassessed the industry I’m in and asked myself some real questions like, “why am I doing this?”, “who am I doing it for?”, “what do I want to achieve?” and more importantly, and the question I have no answer to yet, “is all of this really worth it?” (I’m praying that the answer to this is a big fat yes!). In this industry, I think these are questions we all have to constantly ask to keep ourselves grounded and to avoid a slow, impending and painful death brought about from jealousy and “competition”.

In the past weeks, I’ve been spending a lot of time talking to people who I feel like I can relate to on a more personal level, I’ve taken advice from my elders and I’ve made a conscious effort to detach myself from people who I believe could be toxic to my general welfare. I found myself going back to the drawing board and reevaluating the brand I want to create/ build/ maintain. I finally hired myself a manager/ PA/ PR/ agent (my sister- LOL) and I think I am ready to face these next chapters of my life… but now the question is, is everybody else?

It occurred to me over numerous cups of coffee, pizza dates, long phone calls and a random conversation with my neighbors that bloggers are a bit of an urban legend to a lot of business owners, consumers, readers- people in general, and I simply cannot blog about anything else other than this.

So I hope this entry, no matter how lengthy it might end up to be, will give anyone and everyone, interested or intrigued a better idea as to what a blogger is and basically everything else in between.

I. WHAT IS A BLOGGER AND WHAT IS A VLOGGER?

Basically, bloggers write and vloggers make videos but yes, you can be and do both. To make things a lot easier, I refer to myself as an online content creator until asked to elaborate (then I say blogger/ vlogger/ podcaster/ host/ marketing manager/ occasional event organizer/ public speaker) because that is basically what I do- create content online for people to utilize for information, entertainment or to be smothered with ad placements and promotions.

Bloggers can usually be found under a website such as, www.issaplease.com or www.issatalks.wordpress.com while vloggers are commonly found on Youtube and sometimes Vimeo. Both platforms are great for whatever purpose they may serve and both platforms have their own set of challenges which are all exciting, exhausting but eventually worth it.

Advice for bloggers: If you want to create an online identity, ask yourself what your strengths and weaknesses are. Do you like to take photographs, do you like to write, would you rather create videos or both?

Advice for businesses: If you’re hoping to promote your business/ products ask yourselves if a write up that’s easily searchable would be substantial for you or would you rather go all out and have a vlogger over. Personally, I prefer that local restaurants/ events be accommodated through blog entries while products such as clothes, make up & products that are ready for an international reach be done through vlogs. But this is all just my own opinion.

II. NOT ALL BLOGGERS ARE INFLUENCERS & NOT ALL INFLUENCERS ARE BLOGGERS. BUT WE ALL WANT TO BE BOTH.

Same as, “anyone can be a blogger but not everyone can write” or “anyone can be a vlogger but not everyone can create engaging content” and whatever harsh pieces of reality you want to throw in there. Yes, it hurts to hear especially if you’re a blogger but it’s the harsh truth- not.all.bloggers.are.influencers.and.not.all.influencers.are.bloggers. Content creators like to throw the term “influencer” around as yes, we all have our own influences no matter how big or small they may be but I’ll be completely honest, sometimes using the term influencer can be quite condescending. Terms like top blogger, influencer, best, connoisseur and the like, are titles that ought to be awarded to you and not something you claim on your own. It’s probably not a big deal but it really feels like you’re kissing your own ass.

Let’s talk about Instagram for a bit. Over the years, Instagram has slowly evolved from a fun place to post your daily musings and photos into a social media platform that reeks of subconscious ad placements. Does it work? YES! Is everyone on Instagram who has a huge following a blogger? No. Can Instagram influencers make your business grow? Perhaps. Does everyone who sees these posts buy into the idea of I MUST HAVE THIS? Not necessarily.

True, not all bloggers are influencers, as you can own a blog but not haveanyone buy into your posts but the reality is, we all have that common goal of wanting to create an influence on our audiences but like everything in life, not everything comes easy.

Advice for bloggers: Let your work speak for yourself. Be engaging, create honest content, don’t claim to be someone you’re not.

Advice for businesses: Study who you want to work with. Do they have a good following? Are they engaging? Are they someone whom you think would reflect your product well? Don’t just get someone because they have a blog or an Instagram account. Do your research- you are investing money on these people, spend it well.

III. HOW DO WE MAKE MONEY… OR DON’T MAKE MONEY?

If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me this, I would have more money than I actually make. There’s no hatred in that statement because it’s natural for people to wonder, I’m really just saying. Blogging, vlogging and content creation is fairly new especially to the older generation and if you really wanted to know, here are your answers.

EX DEALS – or exchange deals which basically means you and a company exchange services for free. I think this best works with ambassadorship programs where a content creator/ influencer promotes a business in exchange for the reach of that campaign also given that both parties are working to promote one another.  As I still prefer money or ex-deals, sometimes this is a fair trade.

SPONSORSHIP’S – Sponsorship’s typically work the same way any other sponsorship does, you have a benefactor (content creator) and a sponsor (company/ brand/ product). Most of the time, companies will send over items for content creators to promote and then we meticulously spend time thinking of interesting ways to spruce up your product and make it look appealing to our respective audiences. This is when flat lays, location shots, etc. come into play. For the record, I hate flat lays and most of us do but you know what, someone’s gotta do it.

I’ve had a couple possible sponsors back out when I asked for a paid sponsorship because I had taken a look at their profile and realized that I had gotten the shorter end of the stick. Cebuano businesses are very frugal and don’t believe that we bloggers deserve to be paid hence, I lost that sponsorship. It was fine though, I saved myself time and it made me realize that the businesses I do want to work with will see my worth and not squeeze me out dry.

AD PLACEMENTS – You see the right side of my blog with the ads? That spot is for sale. Do you want my readers to perhaps chance upon it, become curious and click on it? Then you must pay for that spot. Sure, it’s empty now but if you ever wondered how some bloggers make an extra living… ad placements.

MONETEZATION –  I monetize my videos on youtube which gives me a chance to make my money’s and time’s worth out of all the content that I’ve painstakingly worked on. Making money on Youtube is hard, it involves lifetime views, engagement and a lot of hoopla I haven’t quite sat myself down to actualize. It’s somewhere on the interwebs if you want to search it up but if you’ve ever wondered why vloggers say “let’s get this video to N thousand of likes…” well, now you know why.

Personally, I make an income through sponsorships and clients. I often get paid to promote establishments, events, products and the like. Sometimes I’ll do it for free but honestly, I prefer it if I get paid. Should you want to know my rates, feel free to contact my manager at contactissaplease@gmail.com.

The most hurtful thing I’ve ever had anyone say to my face was, “why should I pay a blogger? They ought to do it for free!”. Ex-squeeze me, no. Think of it this way, if If I go to a event, it usually consumes 4-5 hours of my day then I go home, edit photos, write a blog entry, edit a video, post on my social media which roughly takes up about 12 or more hours of my day. If I go to 7 events in a week (or sometimes more!), that’s N number of hours that I’ve given to an establishment for FREE! So question is, with all that time taken up, how do I make money to buy my clothes to wear to your event, how can I afford make up to look fairly decent for your event, how to I pay for fair/ gas money, how do I pay for my camera, my internet, my laptop, my RENT, my GROCERIES, my BILLS? Unless I make a million views on my website, which is unlikely for a lot of bloggers, I’m left with a goody bag/ free things I probably didn’t need to begin with and no money to pay for the things I need to even create a blog entry.

This is why I cannot blog full- time for a living because companies would rather opt for a free blogger rather than pay for one. I’ve worked so hard for my content and I believe I’m worth being paid so please don’t tell me that I ought to do it for free because nothing in this life is free.

Advice for bloggers: Know your worth. Choose your ex-deals properly, know when to charge and when something is worth pro bono-ing. Ask yourself, is it more substantial for me or for the company or would it be a fair exchange? Freebies are fun but when that’s all you have, you’ll find yourself wishing you had money to pay for that camera you’ve always wanted to buy.

Advice for business: Understand that you’re dealing with human beings that are helping you out and vice versa. You would pay for a model, wouldn’t you? Why not pay for someone who does a little bit more than that? (Not dissing models but you know what I mean.)

IV. WHY THE SUDDEN SHIFT IN ADVERTISING STRATEGIES?

My newly found friend and make up artist, Pauline Jakosalem, pointed out a reality that I had once heard of before which is that consumers have found a way to tune out advertisements. We don’t like it when a product is rubbed in our face and so we tend to gravitate to a more human approach which is what bloggers, influencers, vloggers and content creators seem to put on the table.

Since the shifting of times, ad agencies have also had to get with the program and approach content creators. This makes you wonder, do they really believe in the product their promoting or kinain lang ba talaga ng sistema? My only answer to that, in my defense and hopefully everyone else’s is that, we only promote things we believe in. But as I cannot speak for every single content creator on the planet, I think this is when doing your research and knowing your prospective influencer is important.

V. ENGAGEMENT OVER NUMBERS

Sometimes you’ll meet an Instagrammer (influencer that posts purely on Instagram and has a wide following) that has a buttload of followers online and yes, while that’s great and all, sometimes the following doesn’t match their engagements aka likes/ comments. Instagram is a tricky place I tell you and I struggle with it quite often. A harsh reality is that followers, likers and comments can be BOUGHT (enter, Google!) so look for an influencer with a strong following, an engagement and mostly someone who you think would be a great reflection of your brand.

VI. CONCLUSION

Content creators have affected traditional media, content creators have affected advertising agencies and content creators have killed content creators one way or another. It’s a dog eat dog world we live in no matter what industry you’re in and here’s the juicy part, not all content creators are the same. *shocker*

We all have our own niches, following, strategies and 1 blogger is not a reflection of all bloggers. I’ve been doing this for some time and I may not have been as consistent or lucky in my life as others have but I take everything I’ve encountered and used it as a learning experience. I’ve been blessed enough to understand how the industry works, I’ve delved into the marketing/ advertising life and after all the clothes have been worn; make up has been removed and food has been expelled from my body, the only thing I can really offer anyone is education.

So my parting bullet points are this:

  •  Do your research whether you’re a content creator or a business looking to invest. I’ve been to events where they had god knows how many bloggers over and it wasn’t their lack of a following that bothered me, it was their lack of a work ethic that kept me up and made me loose complete interest in my profession. Bloggers, when you go to an event remember first and foremost that you are working. If a company really wanted you to just have fun, they wouldn’t request for deliverables to begin with. Show interest in a company, talk to whoever you can talk to, thank them, etc. Being an introvert isn’t an excuse to be disrespectful- if you want to last long in this industry, man the fuck up.Businesses, actually take the time to know who you are asking to represent your company whether you do it on your own or through an ad agency. Create contracts, a list of deliverables, do the necessary research and be smart. I’ve heard businesses call us “freeloaders” and honestly, there is some truth in that depending which ones you’re referring to, but if you give something without being specific about what you want in return, it’s also partially your fault.
  • Handle all accounts/ transactions accordingly. Content creators, equip yourself with a media kit, a contract, accomplish all your deliverables and never bite off more than you can chew. You’re a brand, be a brand worth being and please, keep your feet on the ground but your head in the clouds. (I quoted Paramore!)
  • Be kind, honest and respectful- a trait we often lack. And please stop creating so much drama revolving yourself, it’s unbecoming and it makes people dislike you more than they already do.

As I end this entry, I feel a huge weight coming off of my shoulders. I am over my writing slump as I’ve vigorously written down months worth of contemplation’s, rants and conversations that I’ve been carrying with me for everyone to read. Love it or hate it, this is still content and at the end of the day, that’s what I do.

It’s been real,

Issa P.

[VLOG] April 2017 Daily Vlogs

I have discovered the simple joys of daily vlogging!

Some of you may say that Issaplease has slowly become a dump of a lot of things but in my honest opinion, Issaplease is an extension of who I am and I’ve realized that as I grow older, your need to document and remember things are no longer limited to fashion, food, where you travel and who you hang out with but also the little memories like what you ate for breakfast and saying “I love you” to a special someone. I document these things because I want my future children to see them and see what our lives were before them and well, it’s always nice to reminisce the good ol days.

I hope you enjoy this!

Live A Good Life With FWD Insurance & the Orange World App

Now that I’ve reached the mid-20’s bracket in my life, I find myself facing more mature priorities like: creating a lasting career for myself, having enough money to sustain my lifestyle while having some money set aside for rainy days, being able to invest in insurance and other #adulting concerns. But at the same time, the child in me longs to hold on to certain privileges such as traveling, eating out, shopping and trying out new things.

My goal in life has to always been to live a well- balanced life where I get to work hard, enjoy the money I make while saving some left to spare and it wouldn’t help to have my own insurance just in case! Luckily, FWD Insurance, the first life insurance company licensed by the Insurance Commission of the Philippines under the new Insurance Code, allows me to enjoy the finer things in life while knowing that I will always be protected.

FWD launched their commercial operations in September 24 and after only a year of full operations, they’ve already ranked #13 in terms of total premium income (source: Insurance Commission’s end- 2015 report.1)! With life and medical insurance, general insurance and employee benefits offered to countries such as Hong Kong & Macau, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam; FWD focuses more on offering fresh customer experiences with easy-to-understand products supported by leading digital technologies. Through these efforts, FWD is definitely changing the way that people understand and feel about insurance.

Last January 11, 2017, during the Sinulog weekend, FWD launched their Orange World app at the La Vie Pink House. Together with the media and their partner establishment, FWD Insurance showed Cebuanos how they aim to become the go-to source for trends and news in terms of travel, food, fitness and art.

Through the app, users can avail of perks and discounts at partnered establishments by availing their passion points that can be earned by simply downloading the application, logging in, reading, sharing and liking content. Accumulated passion points may then be used at establishments such as Lovey Doggy, Albur’s, Bintana Coffee House, Abaseria, Memory Crafters, Café Cinema, Cebu Canyoneering, E-Philippines, and The Barracks Cebu (and more to come!) for exciting surprises!

All establishments fit 2017 Q1’s theme, “Kanto Spot,” perfectly inspired by the laidback luxe trend. Gone are the fancy setups and wine glasses. Today, it’s all about mason jars, farm-to-table fare, and al fresco dining.

Making use of the colloquial term “kanto,” which means street corner, Orange World Kanto Spot theme celebrates the next-door, off-the-beaten-track hangouts, encouraging people to “spot” the next big thing. Often, it is just at that street corner next to you.

FWD’s Insurance and the Orange World App is all about letting our passions pave the way and it’s also a great way to try out new things and as they encourage their tagline which is “Get Ready To Live!”

Find out more about FWD Insurance here.

12 Things I’m Grateful For After 12 Years Of Blogging #ThankYou

Wow. I can’t believe that it’s been 12 wonderful, crazy, long years! I am literally in tears looking back at all the memories I’ve been able to share to the online world and where this thing has taken me.

I started out blogging when I was 14 years old and back then, I was just an angsty teenager bumming off free midnight dial up internet trying to figure out HTML codes and what marquee effect would go best with my awesome customized cursor. Now, I’m not only Issatalks but I’m also Issaplease which allows me to talk about other things I love which are fashion, food, travel, family- LIFE.

I am the most grateful and blessed person in the world right now to have the things and knowledge (or sometimes, the lack of) that I have right now and once again, for the 11th year, allow me to share bits and pieces of knowledge and aspirations for the year that is to come!

2017

1. Will you be looking for a new job?

In 2017, I can foresee myself taking on new responsibilities which could mean a job or which could mean something else… I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to jinx it but you’ll definitely know when it happens!

2. Will you be looking for a new relationship?

We already know what that’s like. Both of us, actually. So, no.

3. New house?

Yes! I moved places in 2016 and as much as I love my tiny room, it wouldn’t hurt to have a bigger space.

4. What will you do different in 17?

I’m definitely going to do a lot of new things in 2017 but I’m going to try and keep 2016’s mindset of never closing my doors and continually discovering & exploring new things.

5. New Years’ resolutions?

To work hard on my craft.

6. What will you not be doing in 2014?

Forgetting to count my sheep, being so indecisive and revolving my world so much around one single person.

7. Any trips planned?

China! (I honestly don’t know why I’m saying this with so much enthusiasm. lol)

8. Wedding plans?

:>

9. Major thing on your calendar?

Lots of vlogging and blogging projects, PAPA COMING HOME & other stuff

10. What can’t you wait for?

For my papa to come home!

11. What would you like to see happen differently?

Right now I just want the world to be a better place- less conflict, superficiality, entitlement, trash and traffic &  more opportunities, creative outlets, respect and peace.

12. What about you will you be changing?

2016 was a rough journey which took a lot of self evaluation & reflection in order for me to find this peace which I feel like I now have towards 2017. There are so many things I wish I could have changed from the year that is about to pass but in reality, if I never experienced them, I never would have discovered this new person. So… I don’t really know what I’ll be changing in 2017. Maybe my hair color.

13. What happened in 2016 that you didn’t think would ever happen?

OH LORD, WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?!?

14. Will you be nice to the people you care about?

Always. If not, even more.

15. Will you dress differently this year than you did in 2016?

Sure.

16. Will you start or quit smoking?

Quit. I feel like I say this every year but the end of this year has been great in this genre. So let’s keep doing it!

17. Will you better your relationship with your family?

Of course, always.

18. Will you do charity work?

If given the opportunity, yes.

19. Will you go to bars?

Never really liked going to bars so I’m going to keep staying away from them.

20. Will you be nice to people you don’t know?

I am ALWAYS nice to people I don’t know.

21. Do you expect 2017 to be a good year for you?

Yes because 2016 sucked the life out of me!

22. How much did you change from this time ‘til now?

A whole lot. I don’t even feel like I’m the same person sometimes! Well, not really. But I feel great about myself and I feel like I am so much stronger than I ever was so that’s a great way to feel and to start the new year.

23. Do you plan have on having a child?

We will just have to see. (woah!)

24. Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with?

I have been blessed with more friends in this life that I could ever need and if God wants to bless me with even more, than by all means, why not?

25. Major lifestyle changes?

Most likely, yes. :>

26. Will you be moving?

Hopefully by the end of 2017 but we’ll have to see how things work out.

27. What will you make sure doesn’t happen in 2017?

No more break ups in 2017, please!!

28. What are your New Year’s Eve plans?

The usual dinner with family. Lots of love & cheer for this festive season ❤

29. Will you have someone to kiss at midnight?

No matter the circumstances, no matter how much 2016 tested us- I will be kissing the same person I have been kissing for 5 years. Gaaah!

30. One wish for 2017?

For it to be kind, fruitful, travel/ adventure/ family & love filled. Only good things for 2017 and for forever.

[2004-2005] [2006] [2007] [2009] [2010] [2011] [2012] [2013] [2014] [2015]

We all have something to be grateful for this year whether if it’s the opportunity to share your thoughts to the world, to be kind to one another, to be of service, to provide others with a wonderful experience or to even just be alive! This year, Air Asia shares with us a heartfelt reminder of the things we ought to be grateful for and their thank you’s for being able to provide us with a wonderful traveling experience through their world- class service of the world’s best low- cost airline.

I would also like to take this opportunity to share 12 things that I am more than thankful for from the year 2016…

  1. Being able to have a voice.

I am just one tiny person in this vast universe but through blogging and now, vlogging, I have the opportunity to share my thoughts; ideas & talents with the world. I never thought that my opinion or skills would be appreciated or yearned for but through your emails, comments, likes, shares & so much more, I feel like I am someone in this big bad world and that feels so great!

My favorites entries this year revolved around my personal struggles, realizations and experiences- things that I were scared to post online but surprisingly, the ones that garnered your love and appreciation. Here are a few:

2. The ultimate gift of family & friends.

I have been blessed with the gift of family & friends who have supported me all the way. Sure, I get teased a lot for being a “blogger” but they’re not just there for me when I need my photos or videos taken but most especially when it comes to being a shoulder I can cry on, designated drivers when I’m too drunk to function (yes, it’s happened!) and fulfilling my perpetual needs to discover the world.

I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for these people and I might not be able to name all of you but do know that you make my life so much better just because of your existence!

3. The Issatalks book.

Issatalks is and will always be my firstborn child. My blog is like a best friend, a sponge, an extension of who I am and sometimes, the Issa I wish I could show the world. This year Paolo gifted me with a hardbound copy of my blog entries from 2011- 2015 (but he promises to print the rest. hehe) as a way for me and us to remember our relationship when we lose our way. It’s been a rough (<- biggest understatement of the year!) for us but we’re stronger than ever and this book is more than just a reminder, it’s a dream come true. I can’t wait for the rest of the entries to be printed for my future library! ❤

4. New experiences.

2016 was a year of self realization, actualization and just finding out who I wanted to be and figuring out how to become that person. Along with this mantra, came a lot of wonderful experiences whether through travel, the people I surrounded myself with and just the things I did.

I moved back to the city, I joined more events, put myself out there some more and ventured into a new creative outlet- YOUTUBE.

5. Being under CPA MCN Adober’s Studio.

Gosh, it feels awesome to say it- I’m a Kapamilya! It’s been sort of a slow year for me in terms of vlogging as I’m still really trying to figure out what kind of content I want on my channel but given the circumstances, I am still blessed beyond comprehension as my craft and potential has been recognized by a network that breeds talent- ABS CBN. How many people get to say their under ABS CBN? A lot. lol. But still, I’m one of them!

6. Finding a support system in this industry.

A lot of you must think that being in the blogging/ vlogging industry is so “ma-showbiz” but it’s actually not the case. Sure, we have our moments, like every other group does but for the most part, we’re all just a bunch of normal, semi-crazy, insanely passionate people who share the same dreams and goals and try to help each other out!

I’ve found my rightful place in this world with my Cebu Fashion Bloggers and Adober’s Studio family. I’m at peace, I’m at home and gosh, I couldn’t ask for another support system like them!

7. Being able to work with different brands.

Gosh, I worked with so many brands and establishments this year sometimes I have trouble keeping up! It’s been such a hectic year and thinking about it now, I don’t even understand how I had the time to sulk and have moments of sadness. -.- I was given so many opportunities this year and I am grateful for each and everyone of them. I might not be able to name all of my favorites, but here’s to trying!

9. To the Hair Goddess

Blanche, you’ve taken a break from blogging to welcome a wonderful life form into this crazy world but before your baby, you brought life to a world I never knew of before- CRAZY HAIR COLORS. I want to thank you and Angelique for introducing me to something that has brought me out of my comfort zone and has given me so much fun this year. If it weren’t for you, my hair would be alive, for one (haha), but dull and untaken care of. So thank you, I miss you and please date me soon!

10, 11 & 12. Love, adventure & a million lessons.

More than anything, I am grateful for the gift of love whether it be platonic, romantic or passion for the things that keep us alive. I have learned soo many lessons, gone on so many adventures and loved completely- almost dry. I am so much smarter and better than I ever have and as much as I loathed a lot of parts of 2016, I will fondly remember this year.

To the people I love, spent this year with, no longer keep in touch- thanks for keeping it real!

This post is extremely long and that is because I am extremely grateful!

2017, HERE WE COME!
