Bayhana| Trying Out Different Work Outs

For the start of the year, I decided to try out different work outs because I wanted to see which was the best one for me.

I’ve always been the sporty type but I’ve never invested on a gym membership because it always felt impractical but I really wanted to get into something this year and so this video came to life.

I hope you like it and I apoligize for not doing this sooner. lol.

Monsters The Musical- A Review

(Photos taken from Monsters The Musical IG page. Screen capped cuz I’m a G.)

What can I say about Monsters The Musical? Well, since I’m at a complete loss for words, allow me to borrow my friend, Alem Garcia’s words- “the show in one word was FLAWLESS.”

As we all know, Monsters The Musical is a musical play about being brave. With hints of it having an #LGBTQIA centered synopsis where of course, #LoveWins, my ignorant self thought that it would simply just be about that and nothing more but believe me, it was more than “just that”. And then some.

This modern love story which was beautifully written and directed by THE Sir Jude Gitamondoc cleverly uses our ever loved and cherished Cebuano talent, Cattski‘s, music to add an unexpected twist and new light to her songs that we 90’s kids grew up with.

If you need a refresher to her music- catch it here. If you haven’t heard her music yet, you can thank me later.

With an amazing cast that added so much life and character to the story and songs, Monsters The Musical was familiar; it was our kind of funny; it was heart warming and more importantly, it felt like home.

But I would have to say the star of the night was definitely Jacky Chang. As a seasoned singer, I always knew she could sing but it was her acting skills that blew me away. Her portrayal of Bea, a strong willed yet troubled woman, is what truly captivated the crowd together with her magnetic chemistry with co-star, Trixie Alturas, whose acting also really captured our hearts. Trixie’s powerful vocals and amazing stage presence has me eager to see more of her in the upcoming months and years to come.

Of course, Marlon Tansengco and Von Saw‘s performances did not go unnoticed. They were all very, very good actors and I truly wish I could go into detail about their characters and why I love them so much without going too much into too much detail and robbing you of the experience of learning the story so I will just have to leave it at that. for now?

Overall, Monsters The Musical is a beautiful production with so many components that made it great. The acoustics were top notch, lights & technicals world class (hi Justin! I’m a fan!), the set design was straight to the point & no frills and while there were a couple mic issues, they were surprisingly resolved quite smoothly.

Monsters The Musical may be positioned, somewhat, as a modern love story but I still feel like it is a very classic love story (in it’s own ways). It talks about love between friends, family, one’s self, facing our most inner demons, being brave and honestly, I can’t imagine anyone who couldn’t relate to it.

I had an amazing time watching Monsters The Musical, I laughed; I cried; I pondered on my life and how precious yet fleeting every moment is and I feel like I came out of it a better person and for this experience, I am truly grateful.

As I end this review, I would like to commend the Cebuano theater community and supporters for our unwavering support for the arts. The Center Stage of SM Seaside was packed and every one in the audience was so amazing & behaved- not that I am surprised but I would still really like to congratulate us, as well. Cebu is ready for more productions like this and I am looking forward to us taking on bigger projects and taking our talents to a wider audience.

Congratulations to MDF Productions for a more than successful first production, Sir Jude Gitamondoc, Cattski, all the cast and crew.

I am looking for more runs! I also think that Jake’s character could get his own spin off. hahaha.

Loon, Bohol- A Photo Diary (Photos by Angging)

After weeks of back to back weddings & events, we were finally able to squeeze in a little down time to pack our bags and just get out of town.

It was a weekend I had been praying for ever since our good friends ditched the city life to raise their kids and build a life in Loon, Bohol and while I resented them for moving my god children away from me, I truly understand why they did it now.

I stayed up the entire night drinking the night before with my sister in law as we discussed how we were going to celebrate Mercury’s Rising (I don’t actually know if I believe in this or not but hey!) and I found myself drunk packing for this trip which surprisingly wasn’t bad- apparently drunk Issa is ok with repeating clothes and using bikinis as underwear.

We spent most of the weekend drinking beer & bahalina, playing with the kids, cooking with coal, preparing meals and sleeping in hammocks. Well, I got to sleep with the kids in their rooms but you get the idea. On Sunday, we went trekking at one of the rivers and eventually found a couple spots where we laid our things, swam and you guessed it… drank some more.

I feel like I really  needed this weekend because I’ve been beating myself up over a lot of things. I’ve really been doubting myself and I can start to feel the pressure really getting to me. I needed to take a step back, not feel the stressors of the city and then wake up on Monday and be like, “bitch, we got this!”. It’s Tuesday now and I think it worked.

Surprisingly, when Almay asked me how the city life has been like and what I’ve been up to- I really didn’t have much to say about it. So what have I really been up to lately?

Also, we’ve been married for 3 months now. Wow, we made it! HAHAHAHA I can finally get my marriage license and everything now!

SRP’s Rising Township Offers Open Spaces for Rest & Play

Filinvest’s City di Mare (CDM), a 50 hectare master planned township in South Road Properties (SRP) recently brought together the Cebuano community in a weekend full of arts, eats and beats through one of the most exciting outdoor events in the city, Summer Pop-up at City di Mare. True to its character as a township that aspires to seamlessly integrate the beauty of the great outdoors into modern city living, the event was held in a pleasing park setting, the open park near its visitors’ center. By encouraging everyone to step out and appreciate the green open spaces through events like this, CDM provides a venue for the community to come together and make meaningful memories.

Featured in The Summer Pop-up at City di Mare were musical performances by electronic artist Wicked Adobo, and talented homegrown acts Vincent Eco and the Wonggoys. Another highlight of the event was the live art activity by commissioned Cebu based artists where the 21x6meter wall near the Open Park has been transformed into a colorful mural and portions of the two-lane roads now have street arts perfect for snaps. City di Mare also launched its life-sized game installations which are available every day for kids and kids at heart to play for free. This park, along with the events grounds, is a testament to CDM’s desire to create functional green spaces.

“Summer Pop-up at City di Mare aims to bring the community together in this park where everyone can chill and enjoy. At City di Mare, we would want to redefine city living by introducing a live-work-play lifestyle all with nature as the backdrop,” Filinvest Alabang Inc Vice President for Townships Don Ubaldo shared. “We at City di Mare would want to provide the residents, locators and visitors not only a progressive, master-planned township set in relaxed setting, but one that enriches lives as well,” Ubaldo furthered.

“The Summer Pop-up event is just the beginning to a more dynamic and inclusive community. In the years to come, we intend for people to expect more life, more spaces and more choices here in City di Mare.”

Bridal Diaries: Our Wedding Vows

Hi Everyone! Sharing with everyone our wedding vows/ SDE.

If you’ll notice, there are two videos- the first one (Our Wedding Video) is by our videographer, James Jayson Ty. Since we were not allowed to exchange our personal vows at the church, I requested that James include them in our SDE. But actually, I had something else up my sleeve… I had secretly made my own vows, compiling old videos that I had kept of me and Paolo.

I wrote my vows a day before the wedding because the typical overthinking self of mine overthought the vows until it sucked the life out me! But luckily I remembered a blog post I had written was I was younger and I couldn’t help but share it on our wedding day.

I hope you like it and that it gives you inspiration if you’re a bride to be, as well!
