House of Lechon Opens 3rd Branch in Don Avila St., Capitol

Cebu’s Famous and loved House of Lechon’s 3rd branch is an actual house this time! Located along the bustling streets of Capitol closely situated near schools, churches, tourist hotels and busy establishments- it seems but fitting that their largest branch to date would be here.

This 200 sqm property is fully equipped with ample parking space and lots of space for families, friends and colleagues of up to 150 people to gather in celebration. They have closed off sections, particularly Lana 1 that can accommodate around 40 people and Lana 2 that can carry up to 100 guests for those who wish to hold private functions. While it’s best to make reservations of up to 2 days in advance, you can even order entire an entire lechon for as low as P6,000.00  that go great with their other food offerings.

And just in case you’re forgetting, House of Lechon doesn’t just offer any lechon- they offer Car-car lechon. While every Cebuano has their lechon of choice, it’s undeniable that Car-car’s lechon paired with their signature “drippings” is a hard contender.

Lana 1 on second floor

Another fun addition to this branch is that they will be adding a Summers ice cream shop within the restaurant. Summers is just one of the many names under the Page group of companies including House of Lechon! Til it’s open, sweet tooths can still indulge in HOL’s sweet offerings- my personal favorite being the broken glass dessert.

Korean Dining in Cebu, Kimstaurant @ The Greenery (with menu)

Over the past years, we’ve been noticing a distinct growth of Korean restaurants in the Metro. While it’s easy to fall in love with the unlimited meat offerings that many of these establishments have to offer, Paolo and I still found ourselves talking about how we haven’t really experienced the other side of K-dining. Obviously, they don’t just eat Samgyupsal all day… or do they? *someone send me to Korea so I can verify*

But with this notion, I was set on bringing Paolo to Kimstaurant, a popular Korean brand from the shores of Bacolod which had just opened at the Gallery in Mabolo. I was previously invited to their media launch and so I was confident in bringing Paolo there because it was obviously “Issa approved”. I had gone back several occasions which I fully documented on my Instagram stories (follow me @issaplease).

There are a lot of things I love about Kimstaurant, as it has slowly become my favorite Korean resto’s- I love their staff, their amazing service, I love their interiors and I love their food. It’s so worth the visit!

MENU

FOOD

side dishes

Kimchi Bokkembob- P280.00

FAVE! Japchae – P 300.00

Beef Galbi Jjim – choice of either spicy or regular braised short beef ribs – P400.00/ P750.00

Yukhoe – Korean style raw beef with egg – P750.00

Also try their Haemul Pajeon- it’s the best, possibly the only, mixed seafood pancake we’ve had in Cebu. It is soo good!

I’ve never been good with words when it came to describing food but I would highly recommend Kimstaurant to anyone who’s looking for quality Korean food. They import their ingredients straight from Korean so you can rest assure that you’re getting the cream of the crop with every visit.

For reservations, call +639459885541.

Operating hours are from 11:00 am- 11:00 pm with unlimited Samgyupsal, Deji Galbi & Kosal from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Seafood Fiesta Buffet Fridays with Montebello, Cebu

A huge part of our 2019 is to lose weight the HEALTHY way and what other way to do that than to start heating and living healthier? While Paolo and I admit that finding dining options is a bit hard and avoiding meat completely has been quite a struggle, we can kick back and relax on Fridays knowing that Montebello now offers a generous and delicious spread of seafood for us to delve in.

I experienced the happy treat last Friday and it would definitely be my pleasure to share the experience with all of you!

While I’m not going to dive into each and every dish, I would highly recommend indulging in the seafood appetizer section- I surprisingly found myself making my way back and forth throughout the night.

Plus, Friday’s are such a great time to drop by Montebello especially if you’re looking for a place to unwind with friends and family. Drop the day times for awesome photos *pro tip* lol

I Won Dimsum Break’s 1st Cebuano Flatlay Challenge!

Amazing things happen when you least expect it, like being the first ever person to win The Great Cebuano Flatlay Challenge despite possibly being the worst person to take flatlay photos on the face of the earth.

It was a fun afternoon filled with food & creativity and I got to play with my food and win some prizes which was definitely the sweet and sour sauce on top of my spring rolls!

Here were my winning shots:

ROUND 1: Greens & spices

ROUND 2: Appetizers

ROUND 3: Main Course (I used my cover up for my background!)

ROUND 5: Dessert

Please do not ask my for flatlay tips because I won on sheer dumb luck!

I hope this post makes you as hungry as it made me,

Bo’s Coffee, Capitol Gets A Make Over!

Bo’s Coffee, Cebu’s homegrown brew and coffee chain with 103 stores nationwide and 108 by the end of the year, pays homage to its roots with the launch of its first tribute store at their Capitol site, Osmeña Boulevard.

Since 1996, Bo’s Coffee has been serving fresh coffee made with handpicked Arabica coffee beans from Sagada, Benguet, Mount Kitanglad in Bukidnon, Mount Matutum in Tupi, South Cotabato, and Mount Apo, and Robusta beans from Cavite and other coffee highlanfs and regions in the Philippines.

They also support social enterprise by partnering by local micro- small entrepreneurs who have met local and global quality standards for their store interiors, products and merchandise such as Bayani Brew, Theo and Philo, Tablea, Agrea CocoSugar, Hope in a Bottle, Obrano Craft, Namana, Dusty Maroon, Funk Trunk Phil., Loudbastard, and Anthill.

The 300 sq. m. tribute store is a recognition of Philippine coffee and the brand’s humble beginnings in Cebu. It serves as a homage and form of gratitude to Bo’s Coffee stakeholders who have been pivotal to the brand’s growth from the farmers and entrepreneurs to the baristas and artists. The brand also aims to recognize the local community who has helped its growth for 23 years.

Its homegrown coffee menu and furniture from local artisans such as renowned industrial designer, Kenneth Cobonpue presents the best of the Philippines to local and foreign tourists. The interiors are decked in designs from the Bo’s Coffee archive collection such as the wicker table from their first store. Patrons can expect intricate coffee at the store’s experience bar, a communal space which celebrate the Philippine Coffee Origins. The store also features more menu options and lifestyle merchandise items and can seat up to 110 people.

Bo’s Coffee Capitol is open from 7 am to 1 am daily. In Cebu, Bo’s coffee can be found in 29 locations.
