[VLOG] Asking My Waxpert About Brazillian Waxes (PLUS an Embarrassing Storytime)

I’ve previously talked about NoStrips Waxing Salon on this blog before and I constantly rave about them on social media. In the last 3 months, I’ve consistently relied on them to take care of my eyebrows, upper lip, underarms, lower legs and my Brazilian waxing and/ or threading.

It felt a little risque to talk about something COMPLETELY NORMAL/ NATURAL as a vagina on Facebook and Youtube but I’m a woman and I am not ashamed to talk about the part of my body that gives me so much power and surprisingly, the outcome was pleasant.

If I’m being honest, I think it’s so taboo and so unmodern of people to be ashamed to talk about their vaginas and the care that it needs. Not only is it naive, it also brings up a larger problem such as: are women given the proper education about their bodies?

At a party I attended recently, I shared the importance of Kegel exercises in women especially after birth and other vaginal exercises which are important for any and every woman and I was surprised at the reaction of my peers. It was so foreign to them that in return, I felt like I shouldn’t be talking about it so openly. But you know, I never know when it’s ok or not ok to say stuff so I have nothing to be sorry about. It’s just a vagina. It’s not like I was being racist.

So I decided to create this video where I sat down and talked to my waxpert Jen about Brazilian waxing and everything that any typical person would ask them. I am literally just touching the SURFACE (literally & figuratively) in this video, but the feedback I’ve received has definitely made me realize how much more we still have to learn. I like that I am realizing these things though.

I would love to talk about it so more but maybe in another post as I think there is potential for this topic. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this video and the insight I have to share with you this afternoon.

Again especially to the ladies, do not feel ashamed to get the care/ help that you need. It’s so liberating.

[VLOG/ BLOG] Things To Do in Cebu: Astro’s Space Park, SM City Cebu

Looking for a place that will allow your child to release pent up energy while encouraging them to use their imagination through interactive play areas with a magical, space themed background? Encourage interaction, tactile skills, physical & imaginative play on your young ones at Astro’s Space Park, Cebu’s only space themed play zone for kids!

Not only is it a huge indoor playground for children, it is also a great learning zone for them as it mixes traditional play, tech play, along with a little bit of science in between! I specifically like how it sparks curiosity among tykes, encouraging them to ask “why and how”. I don’t have kids yet but when the day comes, I would love for them to challenge me with questions because it means they are eager to learn.

ALSO. IT’S SPACE THEMED AND OMG HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE ANYTHING SPACE THEMED?! Comment below if you wanted to be an astronaut growing up! :p

Astro’s Space Park is located at the 3rd level, SM City Cebu, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City. For questions, inquiries, reservations and the like, you may reach them here.

[VLOG] MEETING MY BIOLOGICAL FATHER & SIBLINGS

I have:

2 fathers, 2 mothers (at a time, 3), 2 sisters, 3 brothers which means that I am spoiled with love and affection. I may not have seen it that way at first but nothing is more clear to me than this now.

As my previous sentence suggests,  obviously being a part of a broken/ blended/ new age/ modern family was something that I struggled with growing up but as I got older and as I began to understand why people are they way they are and why things are the same way, I came to the realization that: it’s only a problem if you perceive it as one.

I mean think of it in this perspective: why would I complain about having an abundance of the greatest thing in the world, a family, when some people never even have the privilege of having one? There are people in the world who want nothing else but a family and here I am doubled in it.

There’s really nothing to be sad about. I am #blessed.

But I wanted to share this post with you, my friends, if in case you are going through some tribulations in your life right now. Growing up, I had my mom & my papa to talk to and they always made me see the clearer picture especially when I couldn’t but I understand that many of you don’t. But I’m here and I might know what you’re going through so don’t feel like you have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. I am always here to listen…

Hope this helps,
Issa P.

[VLOG] OPPO A83 User Review (After 1 Week Use) & All The Wonderful Hate That Came With It

I had a very interesting time reviewing the Oppo A83 not just because I was given the opportunity to play with a new toy for an entire week but also because of the backlash that came with it. I’m not a stranger to mean comments and honestly, I could give a flying rats ass about it but you know, some of you guys are real winners.

I would elaborate on this but I’m too caught up watching To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before for the third time and to be honest, the mean things you say don’t even make sense but for comical purposes- here are my favorites:

What else should I review?

[VLOG] I Wore Maybelline’s Superstay Matte Ink For 24 Hours!

I’m not a fan of lipstick but I do suffer from retail fomo which basically means, I must get my hands on everything trendy and “in”. I honestly try not be like this but when a lipstick says it can last up to 16 hours, you just have to give in… and then make a Youtube video out of it testing it for 24 hours because you’re the dummy who misread the marketing packaging. classic issa.

Here are the other colors of this amazing line of lipstick:

My First Thrift Outfit (In A Bajillion Years!)

My lack of experience in the world of thrift shopping is definitely not from the snobriety of it all, but simply and honestly from the lack of experience and confidence. Prior to the last 2 trips that I’ve gone on recently, I had never really enjoyed thrift shopping probably because my style at the time was different, the conditions were unsuitable or most likely because I was ignorant and stupid.

It was only a couple of months ago that I decided to give thrift shopping another try because I had seen my baby cousins treasure of vintage finds. I found lace in her closet that cost her P50.00 or even less and I was on a mission to hoard as many coats & blazers as I could find.

And now here we are. I’m thrift obsessed and Paolo has given me a cap on shopping. I have no more closet space because I’ve taken up 4 closets in our house. I’m ded.

Ironically, when you look at these photos, it’s the 1 article of clothing that isn’t thrifted that actually looks like it’s been handed down for years which I think really says something. I got my blazer for about P 120.00 and my ribbed tshirt for P 100.00 while I got my shorts for P 299.00 (brand new. ugh).

What really caught my attention was my Coco Libre Chanel shirt which I think is a dupe but if it were an original would cost $900.00. I still think my version is a dupe because of the variation in the neckline and sleeve hem colors and the faintness of the print. But dupe or not, I love the fit of this shirt and the cloth is unlike anything that I’ve worked with to date.

CHANEL Tops - CHANEL 2017 Cruise Viva Coco Libre Cuba T-Shirt

I know this outfit isn’t screaming amazing or barely worthy of an entire blog post but it was a casual day of errands and spending time with the family and I’m really loving this coord look so whatever.

Also, I left the house which is a feat AND I had someone take my photos after the very long resistance. I’m slowly getting back into guys, I just need tiiime. lol.

What do you think of my thrifted look? 🙂

Master Po: Little Place, Big Taste- Authentic Chinese Food at Your Convenience

For a city/ country with a large population of Chinese residents (myself included), there seems to be a lack of Chinese restaurants that offers customers with quicker and alternative dining options. While the family style, Lazy Susan, way of dining will always be a part of our culture, it often limits solo Chinese cuisine craving enthusiasts simply because of the lack of options.

Thankfully, late night cravings, dinner/ group dates, solo meals or even large groups looking for a change of scenery can now get their Chinese fix thanks to Master Po.

With already two branches located at Plaza Nouvelle, E. Benedicto Street & i2 Building, IT Park (formerly Ila Puti)Master Po offers undeniably good comfort food within arms reach. Here’s just a few of the the items they have on the menu:

Beef Hoffan- P 100.00

Yang Chow Fried Rice- P 100.00

Fish in Mayo- P 100.00

Basil Pork Skewers- P 140.00

Baked Seafood- P280.00

Roasted Chicken- P 180.00

Red Bean Glutinous Ball – P 50.00

Seafood Lettuce Wrap – P 180.00

Spring Roll – P 85.00

Mango Roll- P 80.00, Coffee Jelly & Cream- P 50.00 & Almond Jelly & Black Jelly – 50.00

This semi- fast food chain is definitely something I can’t wait to sink my teeth into again as I am eager to try out their Rice Pots so I can tell you all about it! As of writing, I’ve already contracted my family, Paolo and several friends to go back with me because… with their huge menu, one visit is obviously never going to be enough.

But just in case you’d take my word for it, my favorites so far are: the beef hoffan, baked seafood and of course, the Yang Chow fried rice.

What I Wore To Sun Star’s Best of Cebu (Ft. A Fashion Woe)

Last Friday I attended my first ever Sun Star Best of Cebu party. After being unable to attend in the past years, I decided that I needed a Friday off (while I still could) and dressing up to go to a party was the best way for me to blow off some work related steam. It was raining hard that night so I figured that a nice thick overcoat would do the trick, it was so chic, I had only worn it once, I was dying to take it out again and tonight felt like the night.

Have I drawn your attention away from that stupid gold choker necklace I’m wearing? God, I hope so.

Honestly, I hate myself for not taking something off before leaving home. I always said I would. Ugh, I hate myself so much. More so that I let myself be photographed in it before finally deciding to take it off before heading to play BINGO with my grandmother. I’m so stupid sometimes.

No lessons to give here, only lessons to be learned.

Frustratedly Yours,
Issa P. & Miguel, the dinosaur

My Staple “Morning/ Mourning” Outfit

I interchange morning & mourning loosely because I mourn mornings except when I’m on the beach, out camping or when I need to deposit a check so it clears the next morning. I haven’t done a fashion blog in a minute and whilst I am waiting for revisions for a company profile I am currently working on (I also write when I have extra time), I felt like it would be nice to actually blog for once.

Maybe it’s the bride in me or because Paolo always likes it when I wear white but I’ve noticeably been sporting a lot of whites in my looks lately. I find myself constantly picking only 3 pairs of white bottoms out of our laundry delivery more frequently than usual and I’ve over worn my Uniqlo polos so much that they might actually be turning yellow. ew.

There’s just something about an all white outfit that is so easy and yet so difficult at the same time. While underwear selection (seamless and strictly NO LACE) can be a bit of a challenge, choosing articles that’ll make your outfit pop are both easy and exciting at the same time. It’s a roller coaster ride. Simply leaving the house in an all white ensemble is a challenge- I am more brave more than fashionable these days.

But horror stories aside, it seems to have a nice effect especially when you’re trying to impress a client by power dressing, stand out in a crowd without actually trying or you’re just too lazy to actually think of something to wear. Either way, whatever reason; it always seems to work for me.

Trick of the trade: let your shoes, bag and/ or eye wear do the talking.

xx,
Issa P.
